Our culture often labels differences as disabilities. BUT earlier tonight I met hundreds of athletes that take their differences and turn them into the most extraordinary abilties. The power, heart, and confidence these Special Olympics athletes offer to each other and to the world is something I will never forget. I joined the opening ceremonies of the games, along with community officials, and I can honestly say that my heart was moved and I learned way more in my few hours with the athletes then I could ever teach them. Sometimes it only takes one moment to alter perspectives or change an attitude and tonight was one of those moments. I will be looking forward to reuniting with all my new friends and having the chance to be a part of their journey of changing outlooks and shaping the world!
